Featured Article: Celebrity bloggers say the #1 movie in Hollywood may have been stolen

Were you one of the millions of people who've already seen the hit movie Knocked Up? Some expert entertainment bloggers think you could have been watching a stolen movie.

Canadian author Rebecca Eckler is suing Universal Pictures and Knocked Up director Judd Apatow. Eckler claims that her book, which she shopped around for a movie deal two years ago, bears a striking similarity to Apatow's hit movie. Interestingly enough, Eckler's book is also titled Knocked Up and is the story of a one-night stand that leads to a pregnancy between two young individuals. Of course, Universal and Apatow have denied any similarity.

Leading Entertainment blog Allie Is Wired, had a great post outlining all the backdoor shenanigans concerning Judd Apatow's alleged rip-off of Eckler's book. She alleges that in the middle of the process of trying to score a movie deal, “she learned of the Apatow project. The script that was making the rounds, she alleges, had a picture of a martini glass with a pacifier around the stem -- the same as on the cover of her book.”

Wow. Apparently, it's not the only convenient similarity, Eckler continued “She also says that the movie and book have a secondary female character in common -- the person that both main characters go to for advice -- and that both of the secondary characters have screaming children.”

The staff from widely-read entertainment blog TMZ.com weighed in with their opinion and some new striking similarities between the two projects with their latest post. “Eckler, who told her tale in this month's Maclean's magazine, cites other similarities -- including the fact that the Katherine Heigl character is an up-and-coming television reporter, and the main character in Eckler's book is an up-and-coming newspaper reporter.”

Gawker.com, in a vicious dig at Apatow, has titled their latest post Adventures in Plagiarism. They offered a link to an article in Radar's blog about the brewing Hollywood scandal. “Eckler proclaims that she hates Apatow so much for his theft that he makes her want to just ... just ... crawl into the fetal position. Her copyright infringement suit is set to go to trial March 11 of next year.”
